Re: Leisure Battery Regulations?
I've posted this up before somewhere... i have the bosch S5 batteries that are mentioned on this link

To be fair though, you can find convincing arguments for and against all the types of batteries. You just have to research then choose the ones you like the look of

I agree with you, but I must say after having a batt explode I would not fit them in anything that not metal an personally I would not fit them under a bed.

Had a truck battery burst while trying to start a tractor with jump leads....the massive bang confused us..then a large lump of plastic lands on the bonnet of the tractor followed by an acidic rain...no major damage bu did sting the skin a little...be carefull!

Fish tank air hose and connectors are about that size. Can't be a**ed to go out to the van at this time of night to check size. I've got the ones that came with my batteries somewhere - I'll try to remember to look.

I used fish tank hose too. I didn't have elbows, so I used a couple of turns of insulation tape around the end if the hose to make it a snug fit.

Re: Leisure Battery Regulations?
I've now seen the holes you mean, i thought the whole idea behind sealed batteries where they didn't need venting?
Cheers for the heads up though, I'll have to get some tubing.

Re: Leisure Battery Regulations?
Sealed batteries do gas but you can't top them up like open lead acid. That's why sterling power products recommend open lead batteries. The Sterling B2B charges sealed lead batteries at a lower voltage than open lead batteries to reduce gassing. The vent pipes are probably not needed in this case but I felt happier having them just to be sure.
It's very hard to find decent open lead batteries in the correct size.
