My 1980 air cooled Devon, a work in progress.

Failed MOT on Carbon monoxide emissions. It's reading 9. The engine is the one thing i was not worried about. No advisories, everything else fine. Luckily one of the mechanics is used to air cooled. He will hook it up to the tester and tweak the head until it passes. Ready tomorrow. £80 total. Not bad quite pleased.

When mine was in for its Mot the other month , a guy came in with a BMW . That failed on emissions , they spent the next 5 minutes keeping high revs until it dropped then hit the magic button . PASS .

MOT passed easily at Tipton Transporters. Van booked in On Monday to get all the bodywork done, I will post some before and after pics. Toby is running lovely and we are off camping this weekend, so glad I decided not to sell.

Toby

Love what you are doing. Trying to do the same with our Aircooled 1981 Autohomes van. We have had ours for three years now and I wish I had documented the changes like you have here! Luckily the only 'big' expense we have had is new carbs fitted this year - rest of the engine has been declared as excellent.

What have you had done to the paintwork recently? Ours has a little seam rash and general patches of rust which I would like to improve.

Keep this updated!

Mike

not a perfect match, but the paint on the van was a one off mix so they had to match it up. It was completely rotten.
