solar and trojans

Im about to purchase 2 6v Trojan batteries and have a couple of questions if anyone can help , they will be running off a 100w solar panel but do I also connect them to the split charge relay ? if so what is the best size cable to use ? they are 225 ah batteries . thanks jeff

I wouldn't connect them the the alternator Jeff
The solar controller will condition them much more effectivly

cheers kev , are yours connected to a split charge relay or just a solar panel ?

sorry mate I edited it after a re read.
No trojan connected yet but the solar is brilliant and they won't need the alternator.. the leisure in mine doesn't

I have a flexible solar panel but im going to make a frame for it and stick it on the roofbars ,the vans in our bodyshop next week and I don't fancy sticking it to the roof ,plus I suppose that will make it easier to move it around to catch the best of the sunlight, I looked at a sterling battery to battery charger but I think I fancy the Trojans.
