quick question, haynes manual in blackburn wirh van...
which oil do you put in a 1.9dg petrol?

Haynes,

Multigrade API SF or SG, VW 501 01 or equivalent,

Temperate climates (minimum temperature -15C) SAE 15W/40 or 15W /50
(Or 20W/40 or 20W/50 above -10C)

I used to use Shell Rimula oil in aircools till they stopped making it. I think it was designed for diesel engines. In any event it was a tadge thicker than multigrade which meant it hung around components overnight making for a well lubricated start. 15W/40 as far as I remember.
