Dashboard glowplug light flickering - should I be worried?

Post by brite-spark »

Hi,
I'm new to the world of T25s: got a 1990 Westfalia Hightop last year, which has 'allowed me' to change the engine (to a 1.9 AAZ diesel), the turbo, alternator and all the tyres!
I'm a lethal combination of naive and paranoid about her!

Just recently the glowplug light on the dash is staying dimly lit most of the time when I'm driving. I've had no problem with starting so far (always 1st time).
Should I be worried?
What checks should I make?

Advice gratefully received!
Thanks
1990 1.9d AAZ Westfalia California Hi-top

I have had a couple glowing/flickering slightly like that for years (turn indicator and another, can't remember which) which I have always put down to a poor earth on the instrument pcb. It has never bothered me enough to sort it though. If you are really worried that the glow plugs are on you could just check if there is any voltage to them whilst it is doing it - they won't be on - 99.9999% certain :D .
