Re: Engine rebuild (2000cc CU)
I thought you might say that Dan
, and a big chunk of the reason why I went looking for a standard one as well. It might be one of those cases where old used parts are better than new "upgraded" ones

Re: Engine rebuild (2000cc CU)
I have been searching again and found this https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/0211151 ... exch-schg/
It might be worth seeing if VWH can get some more ?

Thanks for that, rang heritage and the guy I spoke to said it's discontinued.
So the search is on.

Re: Engine rebuild (2000cc CU)
Is there a reason why you don't want to use the CB performance pumps I mentioned?

The one temp fitted in my build thread to check the cam bolt clearances is a maxi 1 pump. They do a 3 which is designed to work with an extra cooler too. This one I have seems to be of good quality and I haven't heard any bad reviews Got mine from coolair but they are probably sold other places too

Re: Engine rebuild (2000cc CU)
Finally got the crankshaft and cases back.
The crank mains have been reground to +0.25.
I asked the engine shop to check the cases to see if they needed to be align bored, which they said they didn't.
Although i should trust their judgement, im a little concerned by this:
You can just feel a slight ridge on the rear main in the cases:

Also is this just the way the case is machined? or is it worn by the crank?

Thanks Dan
