double front seat
Hullo. I've a T25, and I'd like to replace the single passenger seat with a double, so the nipper can sit between us as we drive. I understand in theory that a double seat with middle should belt built in might just slip straight into the existing rails of the single I have. But finding one and being sure it will fit seems to be a mission.
I think I've reached the point where I need to find and pay somebody to source and fit whatever is going to work…
Any thoughts? Cheers,
Dave.

Re: double front seat
dave - having had the double front cab seat, I can tell you that
A) it used the exisiting runners on the passenger seat
b) it needs a bulk head or a bar from side to side to support the seat back
c) there really isn't alot of forward backward adjustment as the seat back is fixed and hinges with the base
d) if you put a child in the front with legs that overhang the seat you find yourself changing gear with their knee!
e) the seats come out of panel vans and I found it to be decidedly uncomfy.
f) the seat nearest the door will have a 3 point belt, the middle seat is lap. I would not have wanted, as an adult, to sit in the middle as no leg space
g) although I never tried it...I wouldn't have thought that the space would allow for a child seat and an adult comfortably up front.
regards
ps - I suppose you may be able to mount something from another make/model...the notes above are a result of a vw twin seat from a t25 panel van

Re: double front seat
Doesn't sound too great! And I think getting seats and mountings from another van could prove tricker, more expensive, and all that….
Shame though. Seems ideal to be all 3 in the front on long journeys…
Thanks for the post.

Re: double front seat
My wife sits in the back with my daughter (three point rear facing seat and a lap belt). And then my son sits up front with me. Perfect!

Re: double front seat
Eh, where's all thus trick insets come from? I bought a double seat off ermine for exactly this purpose. Took me an hour to fabricate a horizontal bar to go behind the seats (didn't bother to weld it as I wanted to minimise any alterations to the van should I want to take it out again.
My tall 9 year old sits in the middle using an inertia lap belt (thanks Itchyfeet) and he's happy as Larry. In a modern van, I wouldn't be comfortable putting my child in a forward control vehicle with just a lap belt but have you seen how slow my Jx is?

Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

You sure? When I suggested this to my wife she said no...it's a bit of a squeeze with us all up front in the single cab but she insists he doesn't go in the back..

Re: double front seat
If you want to see the T25 bench seat set up there are some pics of mine in a thread called "bench seat query" in February.
