Rear wiper relay ?

Post by Dazlw »

sorry, but this is starting to drive me absolutely chicken. I have a 1983 caravelle (early fuse box) restoration with rear wiper but just can't stop it wiping. If I connect the wiper motor up to the plug connection in the tail gate it just starts wiping as soon as the key is turned, if I turn key off and turn on again same again no resetting. So my question is about the relay ,relays. I have a number 19 relay in the position 5 in the fuse box but is there supposed to be a separate relay for the rear wiper or does the 19 relay do it all? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This sounds more like the motor isn't parking properly. Try disconnecting the black/grey wire from the motor (supply direct from fuse to park motor), then it should only move when triggered by the relay. If it carries on moving then maybe the relay is faulty. Don't know details of relay type or position on early van though.
