dg to dj conversion(low oil pressure? )
I have a question.ive had a 2.1dj lump put in my van running on all dg running gear(carb) it runs well and goes well .However I've had terrible problems with the oil buzzer going orf (all wiring checked ok and new correct pressure switches fitted) I've had a higher flow oil pump fitted and new relief valve and spring .better not as bad but still occasionally the oil buzzer going orf.in the end the mechanic suggested useing an oil fortifier which seems to have helped. I now have an oil pressure guage in the dash .when cold idle pressure is over 4.5 bar when hot idle is 0.8-0.9 bar .also wafting along at 60 in top gear on motorway when hot the oil pressure on guage is about 1.5 bar .are these pressures ok ? I'm so confused with all the tech about oil pressure some say that's doom others say normal? I don't have the naff standard oil cooler , and am thinking of fitting an external cooler .The motor was bought second hand and was supposed to be recon but the mechanic thinks the bottom end has never been apart? Anyone got any experience or suggestions? ?? I love the van but don't wanna risk blowing it up

Fit a temp guage, then an oil cooler
When the oil gets very hot it gets thin and pressure is lost so this is a problem but you may also have to brace yourself for the possability theengine is worn and pressure is being lost that way, 2050 oil or fortifier will buy some time if it's worn but not for ever
my dg has occasional buzzer with 1540 hot, I run 2050 which just pushes it over the 0.9 bar at 2000 rpm buzzer limit hot, but I know it needs a rebuild soon, when cooler is ok but still a little low.

i have been through this oil pressure survey, and converted figures into bar, and there is just one engine as low as mine so no point kidding myself.
