Hi all,
Just after some quick advice following refurbishing my gear change mechanism.
I've followed the wiki which has been a great help and all gone great, new selector mechanism and alloy blocks etc and also took the opportunity to put in a short shift collar.
Now its back together I can't get reverse and second needs a slight knock across the detent, so I'm assuming it now needs some slight rotational adjustment to bring the shaft round a touch. I'm assuming when going for reverse it's getting second, as it's hitting a forward gear.
Just to clarify 1st is no problem, and 3rd, 4th and 5th all go in fine.
Am I right in thinking this sounds like it should just be some rotational adjustment at the gear box end?
I've had a good read of the wiki on this, but a bit unsure so a pointer in the right direction would be much appreciated.

did you read this how to - on the wiki?
'MetalMickey: This is how I find the basic spline setting for the gear selector rods
It's not hard but very touchy if its not just right. The main thing is to have neutral in the g/box = neutral on the stick, this sets the fore/aft on the splined joint and you can mark it, wrap tape round, whatever.
This should not need changing, next pull it out of the splines and have the gearstick in 2/3 position, (from underneath you will see the fork on the bottom of the stick riding either side of the ally guides), move the gearbox end arm to the rear( 2nd gear) and get your mate to move the stick forward into 2nd, as he does this slowly re-engage the splines up to the previouse mark and nip it up.
You should now have a gettable neutral and 2nd/3rd. Then try the other gears.
I do it all from underneath with vicegrips on the bars to help..'hope this helps

Yeah have read the wiki a few times to try and get the theory before diving in, was just hoping for some clarification to my logic before diving in but from the section you highlighted I think I'm on the right track

All sorted
Was surprised how such a tiny movement on the splines could make all the difference, but probably just one spline was all it took to get back into reverse.
I did notice a bit of play at the gear box end though, so that might be something I address after this seasons touring.
I've certainly become a lot more intimate with the underside of my van this weekend though.
