Foreign body in the tank. I recently had to fish some "foam worms" out of a servo posted to me...

Try using some fuel pipe and blow back into the tank.

If my tank is low on fuel it will stop.

Yep did that, this gave me a real good flow of fuel for a very short while then back to slow and some times a few rapid drips, that's why I thought there may be a filter of sorts in the tank? also the fuel was quite cloudy almost scrumpy looking if you know what I mean?

cloudy might be water
If you have water getting in it won't flow.

Yes did find some water and where it had got in I think, filler neck overflow tube lightly pulled it and it pulled straight off, hopefully that's it, but why would it not flow with water in it?

because water and petrol do not mix , the water is at the bottom, water has a higher surface tension than petrol, so it clogs the filter....as well as any other crap floating around

Tried looking in wiki etc can't seem to find owt tried draining tank through outlet gave up no evidence of water now however tank about half full can't get any fuel without sucking on pipe all that comes is a trickle poked a screw driver down, nothing small piece of wire, nothing put a pipe on, suck and just get a drizzle but that keeps running, it's an injection tank just need to know how the internals work.

This reads like it is the return to the tank that it is coming from and not the outlet. Not saying that it is but that is a remote possibility to consider.
I seem to remember a pic of a cut open tank once - have you googled images?

I've had my fuel lines disconnected from the tank several times and its never 'drained its load'. Always assumed there was a valve there or something? Mines a 7mm outlet injection tank...

The filter on the left lets fuel enter the well on the bottom of the tank while the black hose is the outlet from the well to the pump. The filter and tube on the right are the return.
