Early sliding door issue

Hi

I have a small issue, but causing me grief from SWMBO. Our sliding door operates fine except for one thing. When you pull the external lever down, the door does not quite swing out correctly and you need to pull the lever and pull the panel gap at the opposite end to get the door to open. (Fine for me, but my missus struggles!)

Any obvious things to check to get it working correctly again?

on the early doors there is often an issue with the spring in the centre arm , sometiumers the lug it hooks round has failed etc, also it gets well gummed up , remove,strip clean refit
