Help identifying cooker grill

Post by caleyking »

Hello all, I'm hoping someone can identify the cooker grill in my T25 as the 'burner' has dropped off and I can't work out to secure it again. Also, the mesh has dropped down too. I'm really hoping I can get spare parts of work out how to repair rather than have to go to the expense of replacing everything. Any help, guidance or pointers are gratefully received.
Please see pics...
Cheers
Caley

Could it be a Flavel, Spiniflo or Smev?
But to be honest unless your happy you can fix it I would replace it, do you really want to be messing about with gas for a few quid?

Those burners aren't usually fixed on - they are just located on lugs. Have a fumble around up and under and you should be able to find them. The gas entry end slides over the jet end and is then held in place by the lugs. The lugs may have rusted away or got bent but you should be able make it fast. Same with the heat diffuser - they are usually just hooked on.

I'll take some photos of mine as I have three burner grill/hobs in both of my vans. If I forget give me a shout - I do get sidetracked easily.

Grill burners are usually secured by metal tabs that go through slots, and are then twisted or bent over. They're not very substantial, and so they rust through and break off. Hard to fix properly, as the tab is so small, and the area is usually rusty all over - including the slot part. You may be able to fix it with something as simple as a self-tapping screw, though you'd have to take the whole thing apart to get at the problem.

Drat - the hob that I have like yours is on the boat, the 2 that I can get at easily are both newer ones with different fittings.

At least the opportunity was there - unlike some peoples vans that I read about that you cannot make toast in! :rofl

I was only pointing out that if Caleyking was unsure how to repair they may be better and safer to replace. But hey no bother.
