Re: Injectors replacment
I'm certainly not disputing what oorwullie says. All I know is the difference that a proper spray pattern made to ours was very noticeable.
It would be interesting to know how much new ones are from the good 'ole USofA and what HGL are charging now. oorwullie? printmonkey?

Re: Injectors replacment
I'll confirm the cost when I get them back tomorrow. They did call me today and say that I would be charged at the top mount rather than hose type rate because I had removed the hose and will be using my own. So that's should save any else a few quid if they plan to send them.

? You can't just put a jubilee clip on them, the hose tail is supposed to be held on with a swaged collar.

the ones i ordered from FCP euro in the USA last year came with hose crimped on, but it was too long so i cut a bit off.
hard work?![]()
i did say there were 2 types on the volvo so please go and read this before concluding that i'm talking out of my hat...................

I looked on ebay UK and there are two types neither of which have the hose type connection, I had a quick look through the samba thread and most of the links to actual parts were dead links, I am not disputing what you say, I had seen the apparently correct ones onebay in US for $27 each a few years ago and put up a link to them and searching for vanagon injector on ebay.com does show some that look right but searching for volvo 240 injector doesn't but does show 2 different types again neither of which are correct

course ya can, how are they attached to the rail?

aidan, yes a lot of the links are dead on posts from several years ago since they refer to parts then on offer by various companies.
i found the various samba threads on injectors very helpful but in the end i had to use my own brain to search out and find someone selling what i wanted at a nice price.

Re: Injectors replacment
So why did Bosch bother to tool up for a captive hose tail? Ok so yes there is another connection barely an inch away...

so are they the original Bosch pintle type or are they the aftermarket disc type you went for ? An actual brand and a supplier link would be a more useful reply
the Volvo240 doesn't appear to use hose type injectors from what I can see though they may have at some point in that vehicles life span or in certain markets or trim states but if looking for injectors I'd restrict myself to Type 2 and Vanagon descriptions that way you'd be more certain parts fit and are right, and if wrong have reason for return; if you buy Volvo 240 injectors and put them on a T3 and they don't work why should the vendor accept a return. Bosch made loads of injectors of this type with differing flow rates and pressures, the V8 Landrover ones look the same but have a completely different character and won't work with our engine for example so getting the right ones is important. AFAIU the colour of the body isn't even an indicator of which is which, that just seemed to vary with time, yellow, blue and green can all be correct, what matters is the Bosch part number moulded into the plastic

Good question, the injectors I removed had the collar and a fuel line clamp about 5mm away from the collar. Belt and braces maybe?? Clearly how it left the factory judging by the state of the hose I removed.

Re: Injectors replacment
i'd hardly call the disc type "aftermarket", it's simply a different way of doing things and not some mega cheapo idea invented last week in bulgaria to soup up donkey carts.
what i got were the standard pintle type and i got the last 5 they had in stock (ordered 4!).
so as in the samba thread, a link from my order email would be dead as well.
here's exactly what i ordered ( picture from my order form)

"4 Volvo Fuel Injectors (242 244 245) Bosch 0280150204 $180.44"
they don't have any more!
these are made by SMP as are most if not all of the injectors on the entire world market. if they make them with the bosch name moulded into the plastic part then it's automatically 5 times the price from the retailer!

I think SMP was brand I couldn't remember earlier in this thread. Widely used and quality good apparently.

cheers Dave
I didn't dis the disc types and I don't use aftermarket disparagingly just to distinguish from genuine or oem, surely

I'll find the sheet for mine but they were much worse than yours before they went for ASNU treatment.

See posts from me dated 16 May 2012 about half way down this page. You can see why it made a difference!!
