We when for a short trip the other day and came back to find this part on our drive. It appears to have come off the left hand side when looking at the back of the van.
Please can anyone tell me what it is? what does it do? and how do I put it back?
Many thanks

Looks to me like one of the compressed paper radiator guides (for want of a better word). Found behind front grills.

Yes whs^^^
Can you confirm what the mystery part is made of? Is it metallic? The part that Covkid is describing should be slightly flexible and soft.

what Dave says, it's the heat shiel off the exhaust manifold, doubtless the studs have sheared or it was fitted with nylocks which couldnae take the heat so came off
it is there for a reason, but if the studs have sheared then you can't refit
