Replaced front discs and pads today. Very little wear on pads but....

Partly siezed calipers. Outer disc surface nice and bright?

Indeed. Moved the piston inand out a couple of times and cleaned away rust which seemed to be holding that pad in, and bolted everything back up. Will keep an eye on it though.

Re: Discs - uneven contact
Give it a very good clean up with a linishing disc on an angle grinder and flatten the pad off so it contacts all the disc otherwise the rust buildup will keep wearing the pad faster than the shiny bit on the disc.with a normal type disc you can bolt it to the drive hub of the car start it going and grind it flat.if you know anyone with a lathe they might do it for you

Typical 'Rear Disc' look! by that I mean, rusted/glazed bands caused by lack of use and time between driving. (rust forming into glazed bands that the pad can't clean off in use)
When I was working on Mercedes Benz this state was very common for rears.

Re: Discs - uneven contact
I just fitted new discs and pads what with MOT coming up. I like to arrive and demonstrate I've actually got underneath and done some work. Will keep a careful eye on that caliper though. If its troublesome I'll replace or rebuild it. It seemed to move ok once i'd worked it a few times though.
Expecting to virtually go through the windscreen if I so much as touch the brakes when I go to work in the morning - have warned the lad they may be a bit fierce
