I know what you mean, but this is still a good deal for that product.

Just bought miller 2050 mineral £20.86 at my local motor factor
Can't get it from ecp, dunno about gsf

£18,65 at gsf and they seem to permantly have a 25% off campaign going so even cheaper

Why would you be wanting to put that carp in there, VW certainly never used 20/50 in their water cooled motors.

Because mine is worn and 1540 sets the buzzer off when very hot
what do you suggest, other than an engine rebuild?

According to the VW Handbook, 20w-50 is suitable for use between -10 and 30 deg C.

An oil cooler perhaps.....no you're right of course, its only a matter of time.

And of course according to the VW hand book just about any oil is suitable when clearly its not.

All I can say is we never used 20W50 (VAG main dealer 81 - 86) we used Quantum Blue 15W40 for Petrol engines Quantum Red 15W40 for Diesels in T3's. 20W50 was pretty much phased out by the early 80's at VAG dealerships. I don't even remember selling that grade.

Hoping it will stop oil light flickering when at low revs at traffic lights etc.

yep next on the list is an oil temp guage and cooler.
Then I need to pull my finger out and start the rebuild of my spare engine.
