Ha, it was 300CE that pointed me in the direction of the replacement vac back in July last year!

Anyway, I remember the reason I couldnt remove it was because I couldnt access the 13mm nut and nearly rounded it trying to get at it with a flexible ratchet spanner. I didnt realise you had to slacken the 10mm to rotate the unit so that the vac was out the way.

Anyhoo, I got it off. And put the replacement vac on.

I messed up marking the position by marking the mounting bracket. I did take a photo though, so should be able to put it back fairly close.

I'm going to replace the felt pad before I put the unit back. Any idea where I would get one?

No advance and air getting into the induction side as said.

It was a comment you made on one of those threads about being methodical that made me try to change my approach. Thanks.

And big thanks to Covkid for the help. :ok

And thanks to HarryMann for suggesting I fix the vac.

In all seriousness, it may be worth getting a second person to do the test before determining a result. As I said further up, my unit was shot but it took Itchy's lungs to prove it.

Well this problem has been giving me sleepless nights now Ive got the terrible mental image of you two engaging in a sucking competition to keep me awake!

Cut a new felt pad from a dremel polish pad. (Kind of looks like pacman  )

Replaced oil seal, rotor arm and cap. Put it back on van.

Not driven it yet.
