RIGHT STUDS ?

i have had my T25 a few months and needed some work doing and had to remove the front wheels.the van has VW alloys on 205/55/16.the nuts on the studs dont look right they overhang the stud slightly.the wheels have a spacer behind them. do i need longer studs and if so what size do i need

Read back what you have just written....

What wheels
What length studs
How much overhang...what is overhang?

Pictures might help......G60steve is your man for all things wheels.
But even he hasn't got a cristal ball.

Hmmmm correct ET, doubt it, load rated for a T25, I doubt it, correct load rated tyres well errrr!
Correct wheel stud/nut seat, radialized or tapered? anyones guess..although I think most are radialized?
So the debate over how much thread may in fact be immaterial, however, 7 full turns or more would be my recommendation and they could be just that..

Must admit I wouldn't want to drive any distance on those. As Martin says, the nuts are possibly the least of your worries there.

thanks.as im new to the world of T25s any advice as what to put on the van regards wheels and tyres

I'm wondering what they came off originally ?
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here

Could I keep alloys and just change studs and tyres ?

Its the load that they will take. Without knowing what they came from (is there a part number on them) its difficult to say whether they could be relied upon or even be deemed safe. It does seem doubtful that they could handle the forces placed on them fitted on a T25. If one goes, you'll soon know about it.

The flipside is that (and I know I say it a lot), if they're not suitable, in the event of a bump on the road, an insurance assessor could void your insurance. They will use any opportunity to do that and wheels & tyres are something they tend to make a beeline for.

This is mainly why I stick with rufty-tufty merc steels and equally rugged tyres. Can see why you'd like to keep them but worth doing your homework on them, noting the above.

if i wanted to go back to standard wheels is it just a case of taking alloys and spacers off.

Most likely yes, unless someone has fitted longer ones, but even then, standard ones are easily available and not expensive.
There are plenty of alloys that would fit. Genuine VW T25 "Carat" wheels, (like THESE) come up for sale quite often and many folks like them.

There is a lot of info over on the Brickwerks forum in a thread called definitive-what-wheels-fit-thread but make sure if fitting non standard T25 wheels that they are suitably load rated, same with tyres. (No concerns here with T25 Carats on proper van tyres, which is what I have)
