nope, that is to say the seams are full of crap, leave the ouitside areas and concentrate on the crevices themselves :lol:

The areas outside are not rust free yet. I was thinking of using vactan on them but have read that it can cause bubbling if water gets in or if you apply it too thick. I may use vactan on the seems and take the rest back to bare metal.

Any thoughts?

Yes,remove all crap and as much rust as you can from in the seam ,I have ways that you won't be able to use but still get it out when your as happy as you can be brush some vactan in and don't rub trought it after its had a few days to dry , it will come back soon enough as the only way is to remove panels and sort the edges which is why its not cheapnor is iit done by many folk

see the first pick i just done on the lanka, this is what we always try to aim for , "we" meaning all of us, :lol: , what you have there is what i expect to find before i start on it, :( sorry but that seam etc is not something i would retain,but you cannot remove thatr rust etc by sanding grinding etc, you need to blast it and the seam itself will always be a temp affair unless you split it,you will slow stuff a little and it will look nice for a while, you wont do much harm in the long run,sorry cant be more use

I've just replaced all that on one that looked fairly similar
The seam rash or whatever will just return I'm afraid
What's it like underneath there - where the filler panel joins the horizontal panel with a big X stamped in it?

Well I'm not going to buy a blaster as I don't have a compressor so my options are:
1) vactan over rust, then paint (which covkid says is no good in the paint your wagon guide) or
2) get the shop to split it and blast (expensive)
:?:

How many hours does it take to take it off, blast and replace?

I mean the square tray behind the back light
If it looks like that on the outside then its usually going in there too.
theres so much sealant underneath its often masked, see if you can see from engine bay area

Thats the bit, but you're looking at the chassis side there
Have a look at the part behind the panel you're talking about
That photo has managed to miss the other few inches out - which is where they rot!
I've cut one off a t25 today - message me your email & i'll send you a pic or two.
Its one with as much or slightly less corrosion on the outside, but will show you what goes on behind
