Have to say, I agree. Would much rather have tyres and wheels that A) are legal B) Work in all weathers.

But you may see it differently?

I'm with you on this. My boss has his fancy BMW coupe with dirty great big rims and tyres that have a side wall as thin as an HB pencil! The thing is, he lives up on the edge of Dartmoor (pot holes a plenty and very unforgiving verges in places) so the last I heard was that he had an annual tyre budget of over £2K whereas I do a higher mileage in my old mondeo and regularly get 25 to 30k out my tyres.
I think "tall" tyres actually look better on our vans but I realise its very much a personal thing.

Yea fat tyres all the way. I don't particularly like this stretched look either!

My biggest annoyance is people running 13x6.5 low profile wheels on a mini! It's a horrible ride! Mini's need 10" wheels with chunky tyres. I think this is why I'm shying away from putting larger wheels on my van. I like chunky tyres. In gsy we have narrow roads and I hate being stuck behind all these bellends that grind to a halt just to mount a pavement. You need some give in a tyre.

I've got 225/70-15 on my t4 camper its a lovely smooth ride in the front but not had a ride in the back so not been able to assess how hard it is
