Re: Head Light type
i read a few pages back that someone was looking at an alternative to the SA inner spotlight. When you google the Hella numbers on the lens you find it is exactly the same as the Golf mk1/mk2 inner spot. The difference is the mounting lugs.. Going by the pictures the 3 lugs look to be slightly further out than the T3 SA ones. I'm finding the Hella T3 ones reflectors rust for fun. So i am thinking of getting the Golf ones, dremmel off the lugs and araldite on the T3 ones

And the T3 SA ones

Good work on the headlights by the way, look real nice

Re: Head Light type
I'm thinking of making up a similar bracket to that so I can fit twin round lights (all 7"). Biggest hurdle would seem to be the grill though.

Re: Head Light type
I'm toying with the idea of getting a set of the above chrystal lights and seeing how easy it is to swap the lugs over. The light itself is the same, so it's just comes down to if the lugs will securely fix on. I've heard araldite is good....

Re: Head Light type
They're cheap enough. You may also be able to put a self-tapper through plastic lugs on back of unit and strengthen whatever fixing you use that way. It may give you at least two reliable fixing points.

Re: Head Light type
Also, does anyone have the dimensions for the outer lights for the square headlamp setup?
Would these fit?

Re: Head Light type
I suspect in terms of perfect size and adaptability, that square light owners will be out of luck though - the second reason I stick with round. The first is I like the look.

I've converted my van to use maestro lamps, thus, this conversion isn't of particular use to me but I do enjoying perusing such posts

For what it's worth, a far better method of cutting large diameter holes in your grill with a hole saw would be as follows;
Cut two pieces of ply/mdf, larger than the hole saw which is to be used. Place one piece beneath the grill, and the other above the grill. Fasten the two pieces together with screws (per drilled - of course!!), thus clamping the grill. By doing this, you ensure that the hole cutter won't 'wander' as it cuts. And before anyone asks, yes you will be required to cut through the uppermost piece of wood/mdf.
Simple.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?
