Temp alternative to a full resto and repsray?

Post by Miss Syd »

anybody know anything about this - http://uniqueskinzleeds.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - not quite vehicle wrapping. I am having roof and bonnet done on my VW Up! and wondered about having the van done as a temp job until I can save up for full resto and respray. I have got quite a bit of rust so am just covering up. Any thoughts?

hi again :D glad your both well , you are aware of the extent of whats needed, nothing will cure it save removing it, and you wont really make it any worse by covering it up, and it will look better on the eye, what sort of money they charging?

It's just a coating of plastidip, I use it myself on small pieces and on parts of my bike fairing where I wanted a matt look.

It's good and the effect can be nice, with the best part bring you just peel it off when bored with it.

plastidip isn't usually cheap though so if it were me I'd probably save the money for getting the van sorted properly. If you just wanted to change colour fair enough but with rust in place it's best to at least get some sort remedial work done first.

thanks guys, will see what sort of a job he does on my car first obviously. He has quoted £500 for the job which I don't think is bad. As long as I am not going to do any harm! The paint job on it is pretty poor anyway, so it won't make much difference to what I want to do in the long run I guess.
