Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!

quick question !

once I've done my 2 coats and in-between flattening back with wet/dry what is the final process ? apply last coat of paint and then what ? (3 coats total)

1. wait for it to dry and then polish ? with what ?
2 sand it down and then polish ?
3 none of the above ?

sorry for my ignorance here !

depends how nice you want it

let it dry out thouroughly and wax it to protect it if youre happy how it looks

if your more fussy sand out any peel and dust nibs with 1500/2000 wet n dry then machine polish and wax

I dont have a polish machine so that rules that out !

Done something wrong, decided to paint my front bumper, rubbed it down etc, nice and warm in my shed, mixed the paint, soaked my roller and away we go, more bubbles than a chocolate aero, ?

I'm having some welding done at the moment and the mechanic scoffed when I told him how I intend to paint the van. I can't wait to try it out - am hoping it'll wipe the smirk off his face!
I really need a copy of the DVD though but none of the links I've found work. How can I get a copy?

Picture of our van that I recently rollered with rustoleum, used the method as per cov kids video, apart from immediatly after rolling i flatted it off using foam brushes which gets rid of any bubbles present and gives a lovely flat finish with a bit of practice. This photo shows the van just after being rollered, and still has to be flatted off and polished yet! post up some when this has been done, cheers, sorry deleted photo, as put loads on, not vw related!!!

Mine is coming on nicely - two coats of RAL 7035 on, start flatting end of next week - I was originally just going to touch up one panel, but i'd done half the van before I knew it, so just carried on

Right had a second go at my bumper, left the roller for longer to soak in the paint, Still went on with tons of bubbles, but left for a minute or so and then went over with roller again, which appeared to pop all the bubbles.
The paint then smoothed out and I thought I had cracked it. Put the bumper in the kitchen to dry in the warmth and it looked brilliant, but an hour or so later dozens of raised tiny pin heads appeared. I know these will flat out, but am I doing something wrong...

Try flatting off seconds after rollering with a foam brush this gets it nearly flat straight away. Did our van all over like this, some areas, the roof,only need polishing and not flatting off at all after.

It went smooth for a while but then these little pin heads came thru as if it had reacted slightly. Do you mean u used a brush after rollering ?

All paint does this with a new roller, and particularly gloss rollers. Don't pump the roller in the tray or you'll simply introduce more air. I normally work the roller off on a piece of scrap but generally light pressure (weight of roller only) encourages the air out. It normally only happens for first few minutes. Also, don't stir the paint to much you introduce air. I normally let mixed paint stand for a while before using it.

Getting better , got myself the DVD, but not watched it yet. Need to order some more paint. Good fun
