Hi Top Liner falling off

Post by RCN »

Hi all. My hi top vinyl lining is separating in spots. I can reach up and into some places and feel the sponge has become crumbly and such. I really don't want to have to rip it all down if i don't have to, but also know it isn't going to fix itself. Can I simply get a can of spray adhesive and carefully spray up and into the trouble areas and use a paint roller to spread and make contact again?
other than that, can someone tell me how to go about doing this? This is new territory for me.
Cheers

High temp spray adhesive is very handy stuff and very strong. It's not easy to accurately control the jet of spray though - especially if its into a split. (a can is about £9 and you'll need a couple of squirts, see if a friend has a tin you can cadge a bit from  )
It sticks to anything it lands on so mask off or carefully cover the areas you don't want it to be on!
Part the split and give a thin coating to both surfaces if poss. (dont soak it!)

let it go off for a minute or two and touch the surfaces together in exactly the right position. pressing by hand will be fine, you dont need to roller it

If you have perished foam behind it, gently scrape it out (maybe use a hoover too) to give a clean area for the glue to stick to.
