engine id
Looked on here for some hints and then went out and looked at my engine. Its defo a diesel has 4 cylinders and is very dirty. Looked under the big water pipe neat the vac pump and there it is, a stick on metal label. Wormed the iphone in there and took a pic. It has two line one says serial no. RS86013 the other says type and is blank. The sticker on the belt cover says jx but I know the engine has been swapped by PO so this may be a carry over from the original. It has a filler cap on the rocker cover. Anyone?

Re: engine id
A lot of engines retrofitted to these vans end up being hybrids. Parts are frequently interchanged to aid with fitment, fix faults and so on.
If you're asking for the engine code, unless it's stamped on the block, you'd literally have to strip the entire block and head, inspect and measure the components and with a workshop manual, work out what engine code(s) the parts originally belonged to.
It might be helpful if you stated what you're looking to achieve. If you jetwashed the engine, & posted up some pics, readers of this thread would have a bit more to go on if you want help ID'ing parts etc.
E D I T: You could tell if it was hydro or solid-lifter head from the outside, the hydro's have the bulge for the extra breather passage.

Re: engine id
Solid lifter head:

JX is solid lifter.
Hydro:

Some of the later 1.6's fitted to cars were hydro lifter.
TBH, you'll have to do your own research though chap, I'm very rusty on 1.6's..
