
So far then it looks like I'll be transferring over quite a lot of parts from my 1.9:
distributor,
fuel pump,
carburettor,
alternator,
all of the cooling system (although I'll be treating it to a new water pump and thermostat while I'm at it).
But I'll need quite a few new bits:
camshaft (the one in the 2.1 has had it),
heads (the old ones could probably have been saved, but the GSF 35% discount made them a bit of a bargain),
pushrods,
oil pump,
all new bearings, rings, seals etc.
There are metal shards in the oil pickup mesh, and signs that some of the crank bearings have picked up, so the crank will need a regrind, but the high compression pistons are ok, as are the con rods. Not sure about the hydraulic lifters yet, nor the rocker assemblies. I've bought a second hand flywheel and a new clutch kit, and I may treat myself to a new exhaust, depending how many months I can spread the cost over.
