1.6d injectors pipes getting wetter!

Post by bradcab »

Been keeping an eye on things and found nearly all inj pipes are wet, and the one nearest with the plug/stop/blank bung is wet there.

Is this a sign of things to come?
Injector fault?
Fuel pump pressure fault?

Any ideas?

Still waiting for the big book of lies.

Check the 17mm nuts on either end of them, to make sure they're tight.

With the engine running, check for any fine diesel mist in the engine bay.

If you find some you'll need to replace the pipes. You should be able to get any diesel/hydraulic specialist to do this. If you're tight I have a set on the shelf you can have for £25 delivered.

No, the pipe securing nuts, on either end of the pipes. The ones on the end of the pump can be gits to get at, but you should be able to check if they're tight.

be careful if you have a leaking injector pipe.dont put your fingers near the leak with the engine running.the diesel is under a lot of pressure.and can pierce your skin...

Had a mooch last night after mega trouble getting it started,

the bolts securing the pipes appear to be leaking on 2 of the injectors,
they are tight as tight can be.

Upon closer inspection they don't appear to be fully wound down, I mean;

the 2 that aren't leaking there isn't any thread visable at the top of the injector.

On the 2 that are leaking there are a few more turns could be added but it won't turn,

Just wondering if they been cross threaded or theres something fouling it up?

Any thoughts?

can you undo them? if so check the threads if damaged you might be able to clean them up with a suitable tap & die also check that the pipe ends are seated properly in the top of the injector and are not damaged

ended up turning the whole injector

Sounds like a cross-threaded union.

you need to get a spanner on the injector lower down from the pipe to crack off the union.
