Part name for air intake?

Hi I am looking for a part for a friend, trouble is trying to explain it! From the main airfilter on a 86DG engine is a flexible pipe that runs to a box that is located under the offside wheel arch and under the slotted external vent and it also has a fine pipe (similar to advance and retard type) going to it. Has anyone any idea the name of it and possibly a part number? Been searching through vagcat and have drawn a blank.

Sorry the description is vague but any help would be appreciated.

vw call it intake pipe - and it has the hot air control box on it 025 129 609 E, illustration 022-15 but not actually illustrated, mates to a 607J suffix airbox
