Have got 2 Aircooled buses and was doing a bit of work on both on the same morning. I had the air filter box off on both and noticed that the carb choke butterflies were both closed on one and both fully open on the other!
I had not started either of the buses on that day so they were both at the same temperature. Also, I had not turned the ignition on on either that morning.
So should they be closed or open on a cold (4 or 5 degree) morning when neither had been previously started or ignition turned on that day??
For info, the one that has closed butterflies starts instantly from cold every time, but runs badly and very rich when warm. The one with open butterflies starts OK and runs perfectly when warm.....

Forgot to say, one with closed butterflies is auto gearbox and the other is manual - just incase the electric auto choke is set up differently!!!

The chokes won't set to the closed position until the accelerator has been pressed to release the fast idle cams. Check that first other wise the chokes may have been adjusted to not come on for some reason. No difference between autos.

Thanks for the advice. Will check it out. I see you are probably just up the road from me. Good to have someone knowledgable and clever with T25's local
