Just had a read through the link on the Samba. The last post is a good question but it didn't receive an answer. Do you think the quilted material on its own would work well? It would be a lot easier to fit and roll up after use.

Anything extra is going to add to the insulation of the top. The more material, the more effective the material, and the better the sealing of gaps, then the better the end result - balance that against hassle-factor...

I think that it would if you aren't dealing with any kind of nasty weather. The one thing I have found about my kit is: if there's rain and I don't put on my GW Wasser Stopper. The rain will wick thru the canvas and eventually get the quilted material wet. I have treated the canvas with silicon and for the most part it's water proof. If not for the reflectix I think the material would get a lot wetter. If you are camping in fair but just cold weather then the quilted material only would be fine. We have Harbor Freight here in the US and the sell quilted movers blankets for cheap, they are a little thicker than the material I used and would make a fine pop top insulation. I made this curtain from one to separate the cab from cabin.
