Replace fuel tank

I want to replace my fuel tank , Because it is broken...I found a fuel tank(To replace)
My car is a 1981 model ,But I found the fuel tank Belongs to the car is 1984 model
Is it possible to "replace the tank" fuel there?

1984 model changed to smaller hole so you will need the filler neck and seal to go with the later tank Ithink

Early tank had wider METAL fuel filler neck.
Late tank 84 onwards had a smaller diameter PLASTIC filler neck

You need to find out whether this 84 tank has a metal or plastic filler (early/late)
If 84 tank is late..then you will need the plastic filler neck as well.
