PU sealant cure time ?

Post by hawkeye »

bought some tubes of the Polyurathene sealant - "tiger seal" but as weather is forecast for more rain I am not sure how long it takes to go off or cure so that its waterproof before rain ,
at this price I don't want to lose it all ?
This is to renew the seal between the fiberglass hard top and the steel bodyshell of the van roof .

Find the datasheet from the manufacturer. It'll say there.
I recently used Sika PUR adhesive, so similar to yours, and at the overnight temperature here that datasheet said 8-10 days.

If in doubt ring the helpline of the manfacturer.

Contact U-Pol and ask them - nobody else is going to be able to give you a definitive answer.

Well if its 8 days or more without rain at this time of the year I wont get it done until next summer , how long before your Sika skinned , I thought it was within an hour ?

It skinned very quickly within an hour. when cutting off excess the nect day it was still sticky underneath. the datasheet said wait until it had cured completely before applying the covering UV resistant sealant.
