Plastic fuel line replacement recommendations ?

Post by Westie82 »

Hi Guys,

I have started to replace my fuel lines on my T25. I have got hold of the correct R9 rated rubber fuel hose but have also notice that there is a length of "Semi flexible plastic" fuel line that runs from the fuel filter to the mechanical fuel pump. Obviously I want to replace this "semi flexible hose" as it looks old.

I have heard some people talking about 8mm "Cunifer" Cupro Nickel tube, would this be the best substitute for the semi flexible hose ?

Any recommendations would be much appreciated ?

Thanks

Mark

I thought the semi rigid plastic pipe lasts for ages,it is the rubber pipe that is the problem, may be wrong about that though

Thanks big herb! :ok

Currently it has 6mm polyamiade and is running 2 carbs. I have just removed and blanked off the mechanical fuel pump and have my new "Rotary" carter electric fuel pump ready to be installed.

Will the 6mm line still be ok if i'm changing from "Mechanical to electrical pump" ? only asking because my other T25 which has fuel injection and running a electric rotary pump has 8mm polyamiade ?

Both are 2.0 Litre Aircooled type 4's

Thanks

Mark

Injected Air-cooled, just curious, what's the story behind that? (I know bugger all about Air-cooled T25s)

I've a friend who has an injected aair cooled bay window bus. It was an auto too, until recently. That was from Australia, same conversion company as my t25 (also injected). Again, don't know anything about them though!

Yes 6mm for the carbs.

Aircooled engines are fuel injected for certain markets, USA, Switzerland, Sweden etc or as a option for UK markets. Uses 8m pipe because the injection pump runs constant flow with the excess returned back to the tank.

As per what Bigherb has said , the one with fuel injection (Bosch L-jectronic) was imported from California so USA spec.
