Autobox reluctant to kick into 4th

Help please - it's been off the road for a month having new oil pump, gauges and stuff after a low pressure problem. That's been sorted, just got her back from the garage at the weekend, and she behaves perfectly normal around town and up steep hills, but on the flat she just doesn't want to go over 40 - keep my foot to the floor, revs creep up to 4-5000, I can hear her screaming, and then eventually drop into the last gear, with revs dropping back to 3000. Will also try seem to slip back, and the revs rise, and I have to stuff my foot to the floor, get the revs up to nearly 5000 to get her to drop into that last gear again. Any clues please, as this is a new one on me. (Wish I'd bought a manual instead) :?

Have you checked the transmission fluid level? It sounds like a fluid leak/lack of fluid. Must be between min and max. If it's below minimum top it up. Hopefully that will help but the leak needs fixing too.

See - I said I knew nothing about autoboxes. It's fine in D1 and D2, just when in drive it doesn't seem to want to kick up to the last gear. Never had any issues with the box at all till yesterday, had it 2 years.

And the fluid level was checked and fine, and fluid still looking and smelling clear.
