C tek MXS5 charger
thinking of fitting this under my rear seat to charge the battery for my Webasto heater, have looked but cannot find if hookup is disconnected does the charger go to 'off' mode and have to be switched on manually when back on hookup or does it switch itself on and carry on charging as before,my auto sleeper does not have an on board charger fitted,at the moment I am using a cheap aldi /lidl type of charger, any ideas??

My ctek is automatic, when you plug it in it comes on, when you unplug it it goes off. No need to press any buttons

We replaced our Westy BBB with a CTek MXS5.1, and it does exactly as you want. Plug the hookup in, lift the back seat to check - and the lights are on as it starts to do the do. Not much heat generated, no noise - perfect.

Re: C tek MXS5 charger
How much are these CTek MXS5 ?
I got a decent 12 Amp "Smart charger" from Motorworld for ~£35 and it works very well (and comes on by itself).
E D I T = just looked, it's not on their website though
EDIT2 = Found it on the "ring" website though = HERE

Re: C tek MXS5 charger
the 5 amp ctek is around the £50 mark.
I guess you will always be able to find a cheaper product, but ctek is a good product with proven history. I'd always pay that bit more rather than 'try' a cheaper one.

Re: C tek MXS5 charger
Ctek make very good chargers, however it is one thing being a good general purpose charger and another being suitable for leisure charger use.
The main difference being, the need to charge whilst the battery is discharging and to that end I suggest that only the higher capacity Ctek products are suitable, On the grounds that charge potential (on average) must always exceed discharge (on average) otherwise you could have a situation where the battery becomes flat even though it is being charged.
Most Leisure camper converters fit a 8 - 10ah charger or higher for this reason.
A 10amp Numax would be a good choice as would one of the higher ampage Cteks.
