Which speedo do I have?

Post by JimmyT25 »

I am currently fitting an ej20 engine and need a VSS (vehicle speed sensor) and I don't know if I need the old threaded type or the newer type of electronic VSS that plugs in, see photo below

Anyone know?

Cheers in advance and merry Christmas

That looks like the 'late' type plug-in speedo, so you can use the VW-pattern hall sender that fits to the back of the speedo housing.

What did you decide re. your ignition key ? I only just saw your other post about that and replied earlier this afternoon.
Syncrosport (taking a break as of summer 2024)
Volkswagen Transporter, reloaded.

That's good news as that's the one that I have, just need the short gearbox mount kit and I should be good now!

I have gone for the tape the key to the antennae option at the moment as I only have one key and if I loose it I'm stuck!
I do like the solution you've come up with and I think I will be doing this as soon as I get a spare key or two ;)
