Automatic Choke electric wire?

Hi,
what does the electric wire do that goes to the front of the automatic ckokes on a 2.0l Aircooled? The one on the nearside carb has snapped off at the spade terminal.

The wire is a 12v supply with the ignition on. It warms up the bi-metallic coil in the choke. As the coil heats up it slowly opens the choke flap. All the wires attached to the carbs (solenoids & chokes) are 12v supplies with the ignition on.
2ltr Aircooled CU with twin Solex's & originally a 009 dizzie, but now back to standard.

easier to fit a new connector imho.
