T25 Westfalia California 1989
Please can someone advise regarding the following. On the above model (Poptop), I have noticed some with a rooftop aerodynamic spoiler over the cab(as seen on the VW brochure) and some with a luggage carrying facility over the cab and no spoiler. I am currently viewing a 1989 with the latter. Is this a typical variation ?

Yep, this is normal. Many people replace the aero one with the luggage top also.

Certainly possible to have a California with the enclosed luggage carrying type..however the aero type is much more common as you have noticed.
Other specifics to look at with this model (apart from the obvious)
1) BBB black box charger in still present (left side of rock n roll seat)
2) LPG tank and its lockable flap all present and correct under the left side central position....gauge pointing to something other than zero.
3) Leisure battery present and showing 'green LED' on the control panel (full charge)
4) Sink pump working.
5) Fridge working on all 3 sources of power.....auto igniter clicking on gas and fridge starting.
6) Eberspacher heater under the sliding door step present and working...all controls present, heater blowing hot (takes a minute or so to start to blow warm, you should hear a clicking noise from the pump).
All the above are Westy specific.
Then the usual all important body: corners of the front screen, around windows, around the fridge, around the fuel filler, seams generally.

If all of those are working then ask them serious questions on why they are selling

No worries mate....I remember how clueless I was when I bought my California...could have done with a checklist myself.
Plenty of additional buying pointers in the WIKI as well.
