FPR?

Post by ELVIS »

Ok.........

2.1dj.

Take a van for a test drive, runs sweet as, happy. Get to petrol station on test drive and it's rammed, you can see what's coming  .......

Ran out 300m later

Walked to station, five litres, wouldn't start.eventually did but foot flat to floor it wouldn't rev and was struggling to run.

Bought it anyway, got it recovered to mine.

Replaced fuel filter even though it has a plastic tank, filter was pretty clean, some grime out of inlet side and tiny amount of water.

Appears to be petrol pissing out of exhaust joint

Took 3 and 4 plugs out, spat petrol out. Disconnected fuel pump. Put plugs in, eventually fired and ran ok until filter was drained/emptied and it ran out of fuel.

Connected pump, flooding again badly.

Put a hose clamp/compressor on inlet to engine bay, tried to start , released it a bit more, ran badly but did of sorts, released clamp fully, it died, even with foot flat to floor.

I know nothing about the voodoo that is petrol WBC injection.

My first guess is the FPR, any ideas, advances or guesses on that?

Cheers chap :ok

temp 2 sender ? or your FPR, either that or injectors are clogged and stuck open or return pipe into tank is blocked or no spark on that side or there's a wirdness causing the ecu or the wiring to constantly earth the injectors keeping them open

I'd check the injectors (make sure you disconnect king lead from disi and earth the lead so no spark produced) for spray pattern anyway and check the fuel flow rate is as per Bentley and go from there, after I'd done a battery disconnect to reset the ecu.

usually when 2.1 runs out of fuel if anything it kills the pump as pump is fuel lubricated so yours is unusual.

I think the fpr is quite unlikely to fail from what I've heard, but I'd be happy to send you a pressure tester so you can find out. I guess they are quite old now ! A 4 way spigot near the fpr where the lines split 3 ways has a blocked (screwed) nub for this.

You can run the file pump without the engine on by jumping a relay in the engine bay black box too.

I'd check the injectors Like Aidan says. Sounds like a lot of fuel coming out!

Let me know if u want the gauge. .

Cheers for the kind offer chap, have got a tester.

Taken on board what You and Aiden have said, bit of a google.

Going to check all the earths and replace temp senders.

Slightly confused with this WBX voodoo though :?

Had a look on Brickwerks. Found standard two pin sensor but also found a screw in one listed for a syncro

http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php/t ... emp-2.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Does this go in my different style stat housing then then clip n type?

Need to get one before Xmas and only got my Brickwerks order yesterday so might have to try TPS.

Anyone got a part number for it? Where does it go? As previous, different style stat housing?

Cheers :ok

I have the sender youve linked to here. I have a DH engine (1.9, very like a DG block with dijijet injection), with an early thermostat housing. so when it says syncro only, that is incorrect.

But i dont know if its used on a DJ?

Cheers for the input chap, sorted now :ok

Cleaned all earths shines bright, new earth strap, still seeing petrol out of three and four, checked injector flow into a glass jar, changed FPR for know good one etc etc

Took ecu off, lifted it up, and water wee'd out of it  that'll be the ecu then, spare ecu on , job jobbed!

Must have had 15 or 20 ml come out
