Glow plug light stays on for a while when hot?

Post by sternal »

Having just had new glowplugs fitted the van starts a treat from cold.

When starting from cold light goes off after a few seconds starts straight away,

I have noticed on a few occasions that when restarting when the engine is warm the glow plug light comes on and stays on for a good 30 seconds then goes out! What would be causing this ? Any cause for alarm? Can it cause damage ? Van never did this with the old plugs when the engine was warm light wouldn't even come on.

As I said it's not all the time

Thanks in advance

Loose connection on the temp sensor. Defaulting to full heat.

No it's another one, Bentley or search will give you the wire colour/s.

thanks will have a look tomorrow

the wire that I reconnected was on the engine at the back (nothing to do to with water hoses etc) because this was off I had no temp reading on gauge, it could probably do with a good clean as its very corroded so will replace spade connector. But as you say its not this ?

thanks

Resolved !

Wire to the spade connector (by the rubber hose) had rotted away.
