I don't know how they are going to cram it all into the case, but I am on the hook!

Here you can find all that is possible with the WBX. Hours of engine nerdiness. Having said that I used to build air-cooled and find it interesting. :run

I am aware of the typeV forum, just can't see how they plan on accomodating a ~101mm piston and barrel between the studs, unless they are plugging and re-drilling the stud tappings and also moving the stud holes in the heads (possibly sleeving them?)...but that won't leave much for the nuts to clap down on.
Getting the 84,5 stroke in must also involve relieving the camshaft to clear the big ends too.

There was an article in a vw magazine recently about fitting 100mm B&Ps into an Aircooled case showing the machining nessesary. 88+ mm stroker cranks are being used in Aircooled stuff so i'm assuming it could be possible with a WBX case too as they aren't that different.
Looking forwards to seeing the results.

I suppose that when using aftermarket rods (with less massive big end caps) then longer stroke cranks must clear the camshaft, which is the primary limiting factor afaics.
I still cant see how a barrel that big can go between the head studs without moving them or the whole thing being very marginal...
Any chance of a scan of the article ;)

You have to use a cam with a 1in base circle for long stroke cranks... This gives you a fighting chance with clearancing 8-)

Just means you have to order them direct :-)
