As you can see - two vents altogether. The exhaust goes directly out of the upper vent and the heat of the pipes, I guess, goes out via the cupboard under the sink, the lower vent in the pic.. I haven't heard the fan going yet either because it isn't hot enough or it doesn't work at all . I really should have tested that when I had the fridge out!

Well that is a strange setup to my way of thinking - you appear to have only one vent and that one is neither at the top nor the bottom! Assuming that is a vent under the exhaust and the fridge is directly under it also. There is a small one in the corner at the bottom but that wouldn't give much of an airflow over the back of the fridge.

Lol! No the black section in the middle, under the exhaust is the lecky hook up! So only one vent at the bottom near the drivers door (LHD)

Is the fridge directly above that vent?
It appears to be a complete lash-up - that vent is far too small compared to what is normally fitted and no top vent fitted.

No the fridge is about 2.5 feet towards the back of the van. This is strange. The van is a german import with an original westy interior. It was originally used around the German/Austrian Alps apparently as the original owner did a lot of skiing.

OK westys didn't have cooling vents, the one at the bottom has been added by some previous owner... probably to vent any gas out from a leaky gas bottle?
Similar set up to Devon conversion, heat from the fridges heat exchanger is allowed to circulate into the cabin.
I suppose you have tried the turn the fridge upside down for a night trick?
