Lollypop wrote:hi mark, on the road last night and the buzzer went off again, I will try the 1.4 switch and see how that goes, also I asked in a garage and they asked what oil i was using, told them 15w40 mineral, they looked on there computer for my engine, 1.9td aaz, he said I had the wrong oil, should be 10w40 semi synthetic for diesel turbo, could this make a difference?, anyone have any views/thoughts on this, thanks Laurence.
I've just been to VW and collected new oil for my AHU 1.9MTDI and it's identical to your recommendation 10 40 semi synthetic. I would recommend using Castrol or Quantum - only for peace of mind, I've always used the best oil in my engines.
Why does everything I "want" - scrub that, need - cost so much?

Re: oil pressure ?? buzzer of doom
hi guys, been looking at this site, vincewaldon.com , on the page where it says how to diagnose dynamic oil pressure warning system further down the page there is a summary table, it shows the yellow wire to the oil filter flange and the blue to the cylinder head, on my engine the wires are blue to oil filter and yellow to cylinder head, would someone please check/confirm which wire goes to which sender, I would also like to flush out my 15w40 mineral oil and change to 10w40 semisynth as per recommendations, best way to do this?, good flushing agent ? , why does everything start going wrong when the weather goes up the swanee,
, thanks in advance Laurence.

Re: oil pressure ?? buzzer of doom
hi, quick update, I grounded the blue wire which meant the oil light is flashing constantly, driving for about 10 minutes the buzzer starts, so I pulled over and unplugged the yellow wire, (no switches connected now) light and buzzer still going off, took the blue wire off the earth connection, no wires connected and no switches connected but the buzzer still going and oil light still flashing, if the switches aren't connected and the buzzer and light are still going is this a wiring problem ?
,Laurence.

Have you checked the PCB behind the speedo as I suggested, Clean the terminals. Someone did suggest to use a heat-gun over the PCB to re-melt the solder in case you have a dry joint? but be careful not to damage the board doing this. I take no responsibility for this suggestion.

Re: oil pressure ?? buzzer of doom
hi, would somebody with the same engine as mine, 1.9td aaz , please check which way there wires are to the oil pressure switches, yellow to the head and blue to the oil filter flange is what I have, thanks.
while im here do any of these numbers relate to my engine number, 028103373j,,,8wwo,,,28k93,,there is one more its an H with an arrow pointing to a circle with 1,2,3 in the circle ,the arrow is pointing to the 2,,,,,longwinded I know but just trying to sort stuff out, thanks for all replies Laurence.

Re: oil pressure ?? buzzer of doom
Laurence, you lost me. The dynamic oil pressure switch should be installed in the oil filter flange. This is where the oil pressure would be the highest. You get some pressure bleed off at the cylinder head because of the hydraulic injectors so you read lower pressure. I don't have my manual handy to sort the wire color for you. If I had to guess, I would say the blue wire is the low pressure switch. When the engine is off, the switch grounds that circuit and turns the oil light on. The engine starts, oil pressure opens that switch and the light goes off.
The dynamic switch with the engine off is open. When the engine starts, the oil pressure closes that switch and keeps the light off and the buzzer quiet.
To run the engine with the oil warning disabled, you'd leave the low pressure switch unplugged and the high pressure switch lead grounded. The switches work opposite of each other.
Not sure why you'd have to flush the engine to switch to synthetic. They are compatible and I would think a fresh filter with synthetic would suffice. Next oil change and you are good to go. mark
