Replacement side panel (fridge one) LHD

Post by chrispow01 »

Hi everyone,

Having a mare sourcing a side panel for my bus. Its a 1990 Westy with a rotten fridge panel. I've seen the lower section available from most places but struggling to get the full panel up to the window height. I've seen a blog from an american guy with photo's showing the panel I need so they must be available. If anyone has any ideas I'd be chuffed to hear from them.

Cheers in advance......Chris

vw classic parts for whole panel order via brickwerks or heritage, but they are not cheap and the more you replace the harder it is to do well and invisibly hence the repair panels, you can make your own repair panels or get a good bodyshop to make them to repair the seam and floor rot issues see Metalmik8y's various threads

If you got the skill or know someone who has ,making the top part out of sheet metal or source one from someone who's cutting a t25 up.
Good luck

Heres a pic of what I cut out which turns out was more than I had to:

Heres a pic of where I got to:

Was doing ok (I thought) then got carried away with filling in the tacks, was taking it slow as I was aware of the problems excess heat can cause after reading threads on here but managed to warp the panel anyway. doh!

Anyway, confidence has took a bit of a knock and I'm trying to step back and think rationally about my problem. Any input is welcome...good or bad..ha

well i'll have a think, but you dont need to seam weld all the joins, tacks are fine,
personally i detest the over sill thing but whats doine is done, as said if you cant roll a side out yourself or have someone that can then a cut for the upper part and rep the lower

Thanks for that mm, I'll take your advice on the tacks. Unfortunately I cant roll a side or know anyone who can. This is purely a hobby, a roller coaster one of highs and lows of which I am currently at a low  I shall crack on however... :ok
