diesel pump

Post by bangbus »

Hi all,
Considering buying a t25 atlantic jx td,engine has been replaced with we think a 1y recon unit, current owner is stating slight oil leak. But we are aware that it has been into 3-4 garages with leaking diesel pump, which she says is now fixed and has had reconditioned unit and new pipes fitted to glowplugs. We have a suspision that the pump is still leaking, onto the engine washing the block and looking like oil.
i have no experience of diesels as always owned dgs and Aircooled prior. What is the worst possible scenario, and also are the bits available, even a replacement pump and at what cost???easy job or no,to sort??
thanks Russ

Ask for receipts if the pump has been reconditioned they usually offer a guarantee if you have to get it done it would probably be around 300 quid plus fitting.

WHS^

Receipts!

If its leaking diesel, stick your fingers in it and sniff it, will smell like diesel! (Sounds obvious) if there are any pools on the side of the block it will have a slight greenish tinge to it, even on a dark rusty block.

Get a £2 can of carb cleaner, do block and under pump. It will wash off any residue and flash off quickly. Start engine and look closely with a torch.

Know you are in Cornwall, but if vans near Exeter, happy to have a look chap/chapess :ok
