speedo stopped but milometer still working

Hi Everyone
The speedo has stopped working on my 1986 type 25 but strangly the milometer is still turning over the miles , I have recently had a new cable fitted a few weeks back . Any ideas anyone , Is there a chance that a gear has un meshed and needs refitting properly or could this be terminal .

I don't have an answer to your problem but need your help.
I had similar problems in that the speedo needle on my 1989 T 25 was very temperamental but tapping the glass usually started it off. However the mileometer has now stopped and I need a new cable. Please could you tell me where your new cable came from. The guy who is fixing my van says VW don't make the parts any more.

Sorry for delay in writing , been offline for a while
kent vw at ramsgate fitted the new cable for me to stop an irritating speedo that waved at speeds below 40 mph .
Strangly the fault has gone now, and all is working fine for the moment .
A friend tells me that it is posible to replace the speedo head ? that cotrols the needle to indicate the speed ,

Thanks for this. I've found a local guy who is fitting a new cable which I hope will solve the problem.Noel
