Hi , I need some advice please , van was driving fine , got in it 2 days later put it in gear let the clutch up but doesn't go anywhere , tried in all gears but still nothing , there's no noise or grinding at all , also I am able to change the gears without using the clutch .I'm completely stuck as to what's wrong with it , the clutch doesn't feel any different to how it usually does , it still has pressure etc and doesn't go flat to the floor or anything .
Oh and its a f reg panel van ,manual with a 1.9 TD aaz engine
Thanks
Carol

Re: van not moving when in gear
Apart from a clutch problem it could be one of the drive shafts joints is disconnected. Check by looking under the van the see if one of the drive shafts has disconnected, if they are still attached check a CV joint has not failed, start the engine and with the van in gear and the clutch released (someone in the cab with their foot on the brake in case it decides to start working) check the CV joints if one has failed the CV joint or the drive shaft will be rotating.

Re: van not moving when in gear
could the gear linkage be disconnected? You say you can change gear without using the clutch, but is it just the gearstick moving and not actually selecting a gear on the gearbox? You'll need two people to check that - one to move the gearstick, the other person to look under the van and see if the gear linkage where it attaches to the gearbox is actually doing anything.

Re: van not moving when in gear
I managed to move the gear linkage rod the other day from u derneath the van and it had moved the gear stick in the cab , also I got someone to move the gearstick and the part that goes into the gearbox was clearly moving so im presuming all that must be OK its just weird ?

I would say your clutch has called it a day.

Its got to be hasn't it ? I'm running out of options lol , the strange thing is that it was fine the day before , I've o my had one clutch go before ( in a car ) but that gave you plenty of notice by slipping badly although I could still move it , with this its going nowhere .

Re: van not moving when in gear
The cluch can fall apart, that can cause these symptoms, but then should be some noise.
Broken input shaft, never heard about that, but still a noisy problem
If the linkage is good, then one thing is sure, it is a gearbox down project. check the clutch, check the gearbox.
One thing to check: the gear selector ball can turn on the shaft, when the nut is loose, ot the inner teeth are worn.

Release the two bolts of the gear linkage bush to pull down the selector cup, then try to change the gears by hand. You should feel "clicking" into each gear.
