Sharan engine?

Post by dekhelia »

Got a chance for a Sharan engine - however, it's out of the car, and the car has gone to the crusher. The guy says that he doesn't have anything else apart from the engine and gearbox ... does this mean it's a bad idea to buy it? I've heard somewhere that I would need something(s) from the wiring loom.

You'll need a wiring loom, the ECU, the Immobiliser box and Immo Antenna.

Is it petrol or diesel?

Ah. It's a no-go then, as the car with all those bits has gone to the crusher. It was a diesel 1.9 - d'you know if these cars had the engine running longitudinally, or transverse? Just thinking it might be a future upgrade path, if one of these vehicles comes up again.

Transverse. Wondered the same as we have a sharan. If the mechanicals ever die I'd want to keep the engine. The 110 hp engine has a variable vane turbo, which picks up from really low revs very smoothly. Very easy to drive.
