Code 110 Battery

Post by California Dreamin »

I wrote the max dimemsions in the WIKI a couple of years back at 175 X 175 X 310 ....and I'm hoping that I was slightly pessimistic.

I picked up this CODE 110 80ah 700CCA Exide off the Gumtree on Wednesday.. two months old and just £35.00.. (175 X 175 X 315) I remember asking at the time if anyone had managed to fit a Code 110 because they are on/maybe exceed the limit of a VW battery boxes maximum width...its gonna be very, very close! lol ...
If it doesn't fit I'll use it in the Puck as a leisure..
But...if it does fit..it will be the biggest standard 'starter battery' that's able to be shoe horned into the original front battery boxes. This will be a bonus if used as a leisure (extra Cold Cranking Amps if used as a starter) and worth an alteration/addition to options in the WIKI if it fits...I'll post next week when I return from my hols.

I can't help feeling that theres a real advantage in modding the battery box to take a slightly bigger battery anyway. It does mean cutting away quite a bit but its frustrating when the 'ideal' battery just doesn't fit - often by a whisker. My leisure is like that - must be 1mm in it!

Ofcourse, they can be relocated but theres an even bigger advantage in being able to access battery via the front doors. Certainly putting it in the engine bay really sucks, even if it creates some handy storage pods up front.

I have one of these in mine as the leisure battery, I never run it down much as the engine and solar panel keep it topped up so its does a good job. If the engine battery box is the same size it will fit.
